Monolaurin is a glycerol monoester of lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid associated with coconut-derived lipids. Its molecular structure combines a glycerol backbone with one fatty-acid chain. This oil-derived nutritional compound has different compositional properties from whole coconut oil, which contains a broader mixture of triglycerides.
