NOW Foods Vitamin D-3 & K-2 is formulated as capsules with Vitamin D3 25 mcg (1,000 IU) + Vitamin K2 (MK-4) 45 mcg per capsule. The 120 Capsules package provides 120 labeled servings based on a serving size of 1 capsule. Vitamin D and vitamin K are fat-soluble nutrients with distinct but complementary roles in calcium physiology. Vitamin D3 supports intestinal calcium and phosphorus absorption and contributes to maintenance of normal serum calcium, bone mineralization, muscle function and immune signaling. Vitamin K is required for gamma-carboxylation of specific proteins, including osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein, which allows those proteins to bind calcium appropriately. K2 products may use menaquinone-4 (MK-4) or menaquinone-7 (MK-7); these are different chemical forms and should not be treated as dose-equivalent merely because both are labeled K2. A combined D3/K2 supplement is therefore best understood as a coordinated bone- and calcium-metabolism formula, not as proof that every user needs both nutrients at the same dose. Vitamin D status varies with sun exposure, diet, age, body composition and baseline blood levels, while vitamin K intake and medication use can materially affect suitability. People using warfarin or other vitamin-K-antagonist anticoagulants require medical guidance before changing vitamin K intake.
